In response to biodiversity loss
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM/ Biodiversity loss is a growing concern. At least 17% of terrestrial and inland water and 10 % of coastal and marine areas have to be protected.
In October 2010 the UN's Convention on Biological Diversity conference of the parties in Nagoya set protected areas as instrument to counteract.
The big problem is to know if areas are under State protection as they might be. To reach this goal, the European organizations are helping decision-makers to find their way through the vast amount of information needed to give active response to save these zones.
